Kathmandu: Hundreds of thousands of migrant workers are traveling back home for celebrating the longest Hindu festival called Dashian with the families, relatives and friends in the last week of September. Most of them travel on buses.
Public transport entrepreneurs have been refusing to open up the advance bus tickets bookings for the travelers demanding to increase the bus fares and to have overhead racks the Department of Transport Management has rejected the both for the welfare and safety of the travelers.
However, the RSS news on therisingnepal.org.np has stated that at the meeting held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport today, the line Minister, State Minister, Director General of the Department of Transport Management and transport entrepreneurs have agreed on opening up the ticket bookings for long routes starting on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Following the agreement, transporters could use the overhead racks of buses for the passengers' luggage but not for the passengers and livestock if they do they would be punished.
