Political Deadlock Not Ending

Issue 44, November 1, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 25, 2009, after the meeting of the leaders of the three major parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML, NC Parliamentary leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the Maoists have come up with a new demand for resignation of Prime Minister causing further delay in ending the current political deadlock.

At the same time, Deputy Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shreshtha ‘Prakash’ has said that the President making remarks on the possible compromise the three-party leaders have reached on ending the political deadlock has adversely affected on reaching the consensus politics.

The President has said that he has simply followed the leaders of the 18 political parties for writing a letter to the Chief of Army staff and has not violated any laws after getting nervous about the NC and CPN-UML leaders approaching to reach the understanding with the Maoists for saying the President’s move on directly writing a letter to the Chief of Army Staff is unconstitutional.
