Misuse Of Ambulance In Banke District

December 30, 2013: Stakeholders and service recipients have worried about the increasing misuse of ambulances run by various social organizations in the Banke district, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
They said that the service providers could not make it rural-oriented, charged high fees for services, refused services at night and carried passengers on ambulances.
Red Cross Society Banke Senior Officer Ishwori Regmi admitted the misuse and said that reform and professional honesty among operators of ambulances were needed.
The committee presided over by the CDO, and District Public Health Officer acting as member secretary and District Red Cross and stakeholders as members could not do much except for holding interactions with the operators.
Service recipients cannot find ambulance in the rural areas when needed, said Loknarayan Yadav of Kamdi VDC in Banke even though currently, 25 ambulances belonging to the Red Cross and 18 NGOs have been running in the district.
