Maoists’ Preparation for Movement And Government’s Counter Action

April 26, 2010: speaking at the training of YCL members in Dhulikhel of the Kavre district on April 25, 2010, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that the UCPN-Maoist is launching a movement for peace and constitution, as the leaders of the 22 political parties have stalled the completion of writing a new constitution and the peace process fearing that the Maoists will garner two-third majority in the elections to be held after the promulgation of a new constitution. He also has said that the movement will be peaceful and will continue until the current government falls. He has also told the YCL members to demonstrate what they are against the charges of the opposition with they being the members of the semi-military organization.
At the same time, the government headed by Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has consulted with the four security organizations such as Nepal Police, Nepal Armed Police Force, Department of Intelligence, and the Nepal Army, and has ordered the Nepal Army to stay on alert during the movement of the Maoists.
