May 31, 2013: speaking at the training held by the Federation of National Industries and Commerce (FNIC) affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that his party was formulating an economic policy appropriate to the country. "To bring about prosperity in Nepal, the party has taken the strategy of linking party and the common people with the production system by promoting cooperatives, group partnerships and the domestic and foreign private investments," said chairman Prachanda. Chairman Prachanda also said that his party has approved the strategy of production, development and management with a view to preventing the party colleagues from turning into bourgeois, according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’ today.
Chairman Prachanda made it clear that the country could not be on the right track through the classical Marxist philosophy. "There needs ideological development in Marxism as per the changing national and international circumferences."
Former Prime Minister also Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that the semi-feudal structure of the society almost ended so the party had focused on developing capitalism to take the country on the right path of socialism. "For making the country prosperous in short time, we needed huge amount of investment which could not be met from the national economy and needed foreign capital to bridge this gap," he said.
Another vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha put stress on involving women in entrepreneurial activities. "Although Nepali women work hard, the country has yet to get the return from their works due to the lack of strategy to link their labor in production system," he said, according to gorkhapatraonline.com.
