December 24, 2010: the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have reached an agreement on Thursday, December 23 to call a regular session of the House within a week after building a consensus on key political matters such as forming a new government, power sharing and so on.
However, officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal today has said that the government will call a regular session of the House only after building a consensus on key issues. Madhav Nepal has smartly interpreted agreements in his favor in the past. This time, too, he will interpret the agreement as it suits to him.
At the same time, secretary to UCPN-Maoist Posta Bahadur Bogati has said that the president will call a regular House session within a week and then a new government will be formed. He has also said that his party’s chairman Prachanda will put up his candidacy for prime minister. In addition, he has said that his party has reached an understanding with the CPN-UML to defeat NC prime ministerial candidate Ram Chandra Poudel if he doesn't withdraw his candidacy voluntarily.
Senior leader of NC Sher Bahadur Deuba has said today that the writing of a new constitution has not been hampered as mentioned in the media, however, the leaders of the political parties have to build a consensus on the political matters, yet. He has also believed in electing a new prime minister in the regular session of the House; and NC candidate Ram Chandra Poudel will not back track from his candidacy.
