By KTM Metro Reporter

February 16, 2011: a lightning has struck the Pratapur Temple located at the Svoyambhu at 5 A.M. on February 14, 2011 and has suffered damage from a lightning. The temple is the part of the Svoyambhu Monument Zone of the Kathmandu Valley World Heritage site, Nepal. The photo of the portion of the temple hit by the lightning posted on the Facebook shows the exterior damages but the lightning must have done interior damages, too. The damage seems to be not serious but nobody knows how seriously shook the temple and whether the temple might collapse or not.

According to the news posted on the UNSECO website, a team of engineers from the Department of Archaeology of Nepal has inspected the temple on the following day. Other experts of the UNESCO Kathmandu office, the Department of Archaeology, and other national authorities have also made a joint visit to Svoyambhu to inspect the damage done to the temple.
