Foreign Minister Sets Off On A China Visit

On September 8, 2009, Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala set off on a China visit in preparation for the visit of Prime Minister Madhav Nepal. Before flying to Lhasa on the way to Beijing, talking to the reporters at the International Airport in Kathmandu, Foreign Minister Koirala has said that she is going to sign three project agreements such as building a dry port at Tatopani on the Nepal-China border, making compost from trash, and constructing overpasses on the Kathmandu roads, and she is going to put stress on improving the bilateral trade so that the Nepalese trade balance with China will get better; currently, the trade balance is highly in favor of China, so, she is going to ask the Chinese authorities to exempt the taxes on the Nepalese goods imported to China. She also has said that she is going to improve the diplomatic relationship with China. She is leading a seven-member team for a five-day China visit.
