Issue 44, November 1, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 30, 2009, the state-run Radio Nepal in its 7:00 AM agricultural news has stated that the farmers in the Gorkha district could not sell their potatoes and have been losing money because the potatoes have rotted while the price of potatoes in the Kathmandu has gone up to Rs 54 per kilogram.

The Madhav administration in conjunction with the potato mafia has been causing the tremendous rise in the price of potatoes since Madhav Nepal became the Prime Minister.

Nepalis cannot afford such costly potatoes. So, the consumption of potatoes has been reduced considerably in Kathmandu.
