Sixtieth Anniversary of People’s Republic of China
By KTM Metro Reporter In Kathmandu
On October 1, 2009, the Chinese leaders have been busy with celebrating the 60Th Anniversary of the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong in 1949 while Tibetans elsewhere in the world have been busy with protesting the Chinese rule in Tibet and the abuse of human rights by the Chinese rulers in Tibet. China has been occupying Tibet since 1949.
In Nepal, too, Tibetan exiles have been preparing for protesting the Chinese rule in Tibet at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu. However, following the one-China policy, the Government of Nepal has been forbidding the Tibetan exiles in Nepal from rallying at the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
The Police have been guarding the areas 200 m both sides of the main entrance to the Chinese embassy from about 6:00 AM morning to ensure that none of the Tibetan exiles could reach the area for protesting the Chinese rule in Tibet on October 1, 2009. Chinese authorities have been putting pressure on the Nepalese authorities for curbing any anti-Chinese activities in Nepal.
