September 25, 2012: the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has opened 16 different temples located in the compound of the ancient palace called Hanumandhoka Durbar to the public visits. The temples opened to the common folks to visit are 1) Krishna Mahabishnu Temple, 2) Jagannath Temple, 3) Bishweshwar Mahadev Temple, 4) Degu Taleju Temple, 5) Nil Barahi Temple, 6) Gorakhnath Baba Pau shrine, 7) Kalbhairav Temple, 8) Shree Bishnu Temple, 9) Hanuman Swetbhairav Temple, 10) Kotilingeshwar Mahadev Temple, 11) Thulo Nahgara, 12) Kaheshwar Mahadev, 13) Saraswati, 14) Nawayoginimai, 15) Shiva Parvati Temple, and 15) Radhakrishna Temple, according RSS report. Common folks ca visit the temples from 7: AM to 11:30 AM.

This is the first time that these religious shrines are opened to the common folks. Most of these temples are hundreds if not thousands of years old, and only the royalties had privilege to make offerings to the deities in these temples. In fact, these temples were built exclusively for the royalties to earn merits. Currently, Nepalis have chased away all the royalties from the palaces, now everything belongs to the common folks; so are these temples.
