Debacle Of Communists In West Bengal And Nepalese Communists

Issue 21, May 22, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

May 16, 2011: Nepalis have seen how voters have rooted out the communist rule in the state assembly elections held in West Bengal a few days ago. West Bengalese peasants did not forgive the communist government that had attempted to grab the peasants’ land for setting factories and office of multi-national corporations.

Nepalese communists particularly the Madhav Nepal and KP Oli brand of the CPN-UML should learn a lesson from the West Bengal election result. The voters have rejected these guys but Madhav Nepal grabbed the power with the support of the Nepali Congress leaders, and grabbed everything possible from the state treasury to enrich himself and his relatives during the 20 months in office.

In addition, the CPN-UML has two factions: one faction behaves as the members of the Nepali Congress party and another faction as the members of the communist party. So, the question is what is the future of this party, whether it will totally disappear after the next general elections or even before that half of it will merge with the Nepali Congress and another half with the UCPN-Maoist.
