Undemocratic Moves of So-called Democratic Parties

July 23, 2012: Nepal Tarun Dal (NTD) affiliated to NC and Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) affiliated to CPN-UML along with other youth associations associated with different political parties are holding a massive rally in Kathmandu on July 24, 2012 with the objective of forcing Prime Minister Dr, Baburam Bhattarai out of office from the street protests. Such practices are not good for the healthy growth of democracy in the country.
Speaking at the closed session of the two-day Second National Conference of the Youth Association Nepal (YAN) in Kathmandu today, Chairman of CPN-UML, Jhalanath Khanal has said that the government running the administration through the presidential ordinances is not acceptable when all political parties need to move ahead building a national consensus on amending some Articles of the Interim Constitution to hold elections to a new Constituent Assembly (CA), writes ‘The Himalayan Times’ quoting the RSS.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Kaji Shrestha at an interaction event in Kathmandu today said that an environment conducive to holding elections on November 22 would be created if the NC and CPN-UML were willing to build a national consensus on amending the constitution and the peace process, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’ quoting the state news agency RSS.
Dissident central member of CPN-UML Rajendra Shrestha at the interaction event held by Rafat Comunication Club, Bhaktapur, today has said that they are preparing for setting up a new party, the dissident members have reached an agreement on setting up a new party after the CPN-UML leadership has disregarded their voices on the issues of ethnic identity, writes, ‘The Himalayan Times’.
The private higher secondary schools across the country have remained closed for the second day today due to the shutdown enforced by the All Nepal National Independent Students Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) affiliated to the CPN-Maoist of Vaidhya. Union coordinator Sharad Rasaili warned of intensifying the protest if the demand for changing names of colleges from the English names to Nepalese were not met soon. Thus, the CPN-Maoist of Vaidhya has already unleashed the so-called students to terrorize the private schools in Nepal.
