UK Minister Duncan In Nepal

March 7, 2011: Minister of State for International Development of the United Kingdom (UK), Alan Duncan has arrived in Nepal today. Upon arrival at the International Airport in Kathmandu, Duncan has told reporters that he is very happy to visit Nepal the second time as the Minister of State for International Development.
On the eve of the International Women's Day, Minister Duncan has congratulated Nepal for the achievements made in the women's representation in the parliament and in reducing the maternal mortality, and has said that his country will support the program on fighting the violence against women and girls and provide Nepal with six million pound for that program to run over the next four years.
Minister Duncan has walked from New Road to Chhetrapati for drawing an attention of the government and people to the Kathmandu being vulnerable to earthquake and the needs for taking actions for protecting the people from disaster according to ‘The Himalayan Times.’
In the evening, Minister Ducan has made a courtesy call on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav at the Shital Niwas: official residence of the president. He will meet with prime minister, ministers and other political leaders during the coming few days.
Minister Duncan will launch a "development support plan" in Nepal on Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
