September 28, 2013: the plane carrying the election materials worth RMB 10 million provided by China to Nepal for holding the elections to a new constituent assembly on November 19 was landed in Kathmandu yesterday morning; Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai and joint secretary of Election Commission Maheshow Neupane were present at the airport to receive the materials, according to the news posted on the ‘News.xinhuanet.com’.

Joint secretary Nepuane told Xinhua that the Chinese assistance to Nepal for the elections has proved once again a clean friendship between the two countries. "China has always supported the democratic process in Nepal. With this assistance we will be able to manage our logistics more conveniently. We are on track to hold the elections on schedule and we will hold it in a grand manner," said joint secretary Neupane.

Security has been the main concern of the government for the elections, with some parties threatening to disrupt the polls but joint secretary Neupane said, “The Home Ministry will be tightening up the security by deploying 61,000 Nepal Army personnel, more than 29,000 Armed Police Force personnel, 60,000 Nepal Police personnel and about 45,000 volunteers”.

Wu Chuntai said that Nepal and China have been good neighbors and friends, and he hoped that the assistance would help Nepal to hold the elections efficiently.
