Assistance of The World Bank For Rural Roads And Irrigation

December 25, 2013: the World bank is providing Nepal with US$ 150 million equivalent to Rs 1.5 billions for the rural roads, and irrigation projects, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

According to the press statement released by the resident representative of the World Bank in Kathmandu, the money would be spent on the rural road network that would help in increasing the productivity of agriculture. The rural road project would be implemented in 33 districts. The rural roads would be operational in all weather. These roads would help the low-income people in improving their economic condition.

 

The World Bank also has been assisting Nepal in the irrigation and water resources management since 2007. The money also provided by the bank would be used for 80 irrigation schemes run by the local farmers in 40 districts of the Western, Midwestern, and Far-western regions. These schemes would help in irrigating 20 hectares by June 2014.
