August 6, 2012: the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) instructed the government to stop civil servants, public teachers and other government officials not wearing official uniforms prescribed for them from entering into their respective offices following the complaints about the government employees not wearing uniforms despite the government paying for their uniforms, according to myrepublica.com.
If the state officials don’t wear the uniforms they have received at the cost of the taxpayers why the government need to pay for their uniforms amounting to millions of rupees if not billions, some civil society leaders say. Such huge resources that have been wasted on paying for the uniforms of the state employees could be used for some projects that would benefit the poor. So, the government should stop paying for the uniforms rather use the money for alleviating the poverty in the country, civil society leaders say.
