Ignoring Democracy Day Caused Controversy

February 19, 2012: the government headed by Dr. Baburam Bhattarai ignoring the 62nd Democracy Day in Nepal has caused controversy. NC leaders have charged the government that it has ignored the celebration of the democracy day with the intention to impose dictatorship. However, the day is a national holiday in Nepal.

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has extended best wishes to all Nepali brothers and sisters at home and abroad on the occasion of the 62nd National Democracy Day; in his message, the President has said that the Day marked the end of the autocratic regime; so it is marked as the National Day, the state news agency RSS reported.

"May the Day inspire one and all for drafting the democratic constitution and thereby establish durable peace in the country through consensus by keeping intact the national integrity, sovereignty and national unity", RSS quoted the President.

The nation has witnessed tremendous achievements in the sector of education, health, communication and the physical infrastructures after the abolition of the autocratic regime according to the message of the President.
