Prime Minister Back From India Visit

On August 22, 2009, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal with his spouse has returned to Nepal from the five-day India visit. At the International Airport in Kathmandu, Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Gacchedar, Chairman of Constituent Assembly Subhas Nemwang and Foreign Minster Sujata Koirala welcomed Prime Minister Madhav Nepal.

At the VVIP lounge, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal gave a brief account of his visit to India to the reporters. He has said that Indian leaders want to see Nepal developed and Nepalis live in comfort, see peace and stability in Nepal, as instability in Nepal naturally adversely affects India.

Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has measured the success of his India visit in terms of the amount of money (Rs 32 billion for various projects) he has received from India and the Trade and Transit Treaty Nepal and India have signed. Following the new Trade and Transit Treaty, both India and Nepal could export any Indian goods and Nepalese goods to third countries.
