Special Meeting Of Prachanda With Chinese President Xi

April 19, 2013: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda had a special meeting with President of China Xi Jinping at the Great Hall in Beijing yesterday. The meeting lasted almost 45 minutes. Chairman Prachanda congratulated President Xi Jinping on his election to the president of China. President Xi Jinping in turn congratulated Chairman Prachanda on his election to the chairman of UCPN-Maoist, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

 

President Xi appreciated the Nepal’s one-China policy, the bilateral relations, and said that China was ready to help Nepal as much as it can in the endeavor of Nepal to its development and prosperity. Chairman Prachanda assured President Xi of not only strictly continuing the one-China policy of Nepal but also strengthening it further. Chairman Prachanda also appreciated the Chinese assistance in the development of Nepal, and urged President Xi to increase the Chinese assistance in energy, agriculture, tourism, and transport sectors.

 

This was the fourth visit of Chairman Prachanda to China, and Chairman Prachanda was the first foreign dignitary President Xi had welcomed in China after he was elected to the president of the People’s Republic of China.

 

President Xi said that the stable friendship between Nepal and China was not only the desire of the people and of the two countries but also it was conducive to the regional stability and development; and China wanted the peaceful development in the region.

 

Concerning curiosity of President Xi about the latest political development in Nepal, Chairman Prachanda said that the constituent assembly was dissolved due to various reasons; and then the country was moving fast to hold elections to another constituent assembly.

 

President Xi said that the Chinese government believed that UCPN-Maoist and its leaders would engage in resolving the political transition in Nepal; relations between the Chinese communist party and UCPN-Maoist would be strengthened, and he also said that visits of leaders and cadres of political parties including the UCPN-Maoist would be increased to stregthen the relations among the political parties.
