August 11, 2010: the central committee of CPN-UML has disappointed the NC particularly its candidate for a Prime Minister making decision on not voting anyone of the two candidates for a Prime Minister in the election to be held on August 18, 2010. Mr. Ram Chandra Poudel the NC candidate for a Prime minister has pinned hope on the CPN-UML deciding to vote him in the upcoming election but to his disappointment the CPN-UML has decided otherwise. In frustration, Mr. Poudel has charged the CPN-UML with taking the country hostage to indecision causing the repeated failure in electing a new Prime Minister.
Acting President of NC Sushll Koirala has said that the NC is not backing out of the contest for a new Prime Minister to counter the rumor of the NC pulling out of its candidate from the fifth round of the election to a new Prime Minister.
Spokesman for UCPN-Maoist Dinanath Sharma has said that the UCPN-Maoist might consider pulling out its candidate for a new Prime Minister provided both the NC and CPN-UML agree on an amendment to the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007. However, he has failed in explaining what amendments the UCPN-Maoist wants to the Interim Constitution.
Former Indian Ambassador to Nepal K.V. Rajan has arrived in Nepal apparently to break the political deadlock the election to a new Prime Minister in Nepal has reached, after the failure of another former Indian Ambassador Shyam Sharan’s visit in the last week to break the deadlock according to the news of the telegraphnepal.com
In view of the CPN-UML’s decision on not voting anyone of the two candidates, the possibility of electing a new Prime Minister in the election to be held on August 18 has reduced to almost a nil. The only possibility of electing a new Prime minister is if the Madheshi political parties vote the UCPN-Maoist’s candidate, which is quite unlikely.
