On August 11, 2009, a pressure-cooker bomb went off in the central office of the Nepali Congress at Sanepa, Lalitpur causing damage to the conference room on the ground floor. Nepal Defense Army has claimed for the detonation. Leaders of various political parties have condemned the explosion.

On August 11, 2009, speaking at the workshop titled “Federalism, Democracy and Basic Principles of Constitution” held in Butwal, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Bimalendra Nidhi has said that the concept of ‘One Madhesh One Province’ will never be acceptable.

On August 11, 2009, speaking at the Second National Meeting of the Nepal National Nai Association, Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum Upendra Yadav has said that his party will continue to fight for ‘One Madhesh One Province’ until it happens.

On August 11, 2009, speaking at the legislature-parliament before stopping its business, UCPN-Maoist member of the parliament Barsha Man Pun has said that the government’s security plan is directed against his party, and it is intended to disrupting the peace process.

On August 11, 2009, Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic has unanimously elected Bijaya Gacchadar to its leader and 14-member working committee of its parliamentary party.

On August 11, 2009, Minister for Education Ranchandra Kushbah has said that the state-run Tribhuvan University needs to abolish the certificate level education at the university only after making physical infrastructures available at schools for the 10+2 education. However, Vice-chancellor of Tribhuvan University Madhav Sharma has been unyielding to change the decision of the University Council’s decision on putting an end to the certificate-level education saying the university can no more carry the burden of it. At the same time, students have continued the protest against the decision of the university on doing away with the certificate level education at the university.

On August 12, 2009, students affiliated to the UCPN-Maoist have closed 10+2 schools across the country protesting against the state-run university closing the 10+2 education at its campuses across the country.

On August 12, 2009, UCPN-Maoist cadres have held a rally at the western gate of the State secretariat Singhadurbar in Kathmandu, and they also have held rallies at the district administration offices at the district headquarters across the country protesting against the unconstitutional action of the ceremonial President.
