CA Passes Schedule Of Completing Constitution Writing

issue 30, July 25, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter

July 18, 2010: the Constituent Assembly (CA) has unanimously passed the latest schedule of the Constitution writing today. Following the latest schedule, the CA will complete the writing of the new constitution by mid October 2010 and promulgate it by Mid-April 2011.

The three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML have agreed on this schedule before submitting it to the CA for its endorsement. The leaders of the Madheshi political parties have stalled the business of passing the schedule for some time demanding the exclusion of the State Restructuring Commission (SRC) from the schedule of constitutional writing. They are not agreeing on the setting up of the SRC the three major-party leaders have agreed on without consulting the Madheshi leaders.
