President Yadav Opens Visit Lumbini Year Of 2012

January 15, 2012: President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav yesterday has formally opened the Lumbini Visit Year of 2012 at the special ceremony held at Lumbini: the birthplace of Lord Buddha taking the peace flame turned him over by Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Lokendra Bist Magar; Marathoner Baikuntha Manandhar, players Sangina Baidhya and Krishna Basnet turned over the peace flame to Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

Marking the Visit Lumbini Year is for luring the tourists to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, informing the world that the actual birthplace of Lord Buddha is Lumbini, and to expedite the comprehensive development of Lumbini.

Speaking on the occasion, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Bist said that the government would correct the flaws of the Nepal Tourism Year of 2011 and make the Lumbini Year a success. The Nepal Tourism Year of 2011 has been completed but the number of tourists visited Nepal in the Nepal Tourism Year has been way off the target.
