Feasibility Study On Making Nepal Free WIFI Zone

January 2, 2014: the Ministry of Information and Communications has formed a taskforce to study the possibilities of declaring Nepal a Free WiFi Zone. The Ministry has set up the taskforce following the concept it has developed to make the country a Free WiFi Zone, said Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Paudel, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

 

The taskforce comprised Mahesh Adhikari: a member of the Nepal Tele-communication Authority (NTA) as the coordinator, and Technical Under-Secretaries at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the National Planning Commission, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and expert at TU as members. Anandaraj Khanal of the NTA officiates as the member secretary of the taskforce.

 

The taskforce has been mandated to submit its report with suggestions and recommendations within 30 days of starting work. The taskforce would study the possibility of developing the country as a Free WiFi Zone and submit its report after studying and analyzing the economic and technical means and resources.
