On Sunday, November 30, and Monday, December 01, 2008, the Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSC) enforced the two-day closure of traffic and other businesses in the eastern districts including Taplejung, Illam, Jhapa, Morang Sunsari, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, and Panchthhar demanding the government implement the agreements it has reached with the previous government. The closure affected the regular lives of the people in the eastern region of Nepal.
On Monday, December 01, 2008, laborers working at 60 industries in Hetauda have resumed work after three-day strike, as the management agreed to the demand for paying the wages at par of the minimum wages set by the Government of Nepal.
Similarly, restaurant and hotel staffs closed all hotels and restaurants in Nagarkot, Bhaktapur demanding the management pay the minimum wages set by the government. After the management complied with their demand, the restaurant and hotel staffs resumed their duty.
On Monday, December 01, 2008, Federation of Nepalese Journalists held rallies in major towns all over Nepal protesting the killing of journalist Jagat Prasad Joshi working in Kailali, Western Nepal. He was affiliated to the Maoists’ Revolutionary Journalists Association. However, his family members suspected that the Maoists might have killed in view of the lackluster interest shown by them in searching for the missing journalist Joshi. Maoists also called for the closure of Kailali in protest against the murder of the journalist Joshi.
