Prachanda Meets With Madhav At The Latter’s Office In Singha Durbar

January 18, 2011: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has met with officiating Prime Minister Madhav Nepal at the latter’s office in Singha Durbar on Monday, January 17, 2011 to discuss the follow-on program on the ways to bring the arms and armies of the Maoist People’s Liberation Army (PLA) under the purview of the Army Integration Special Committee, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes. Speaking to the reporters after the meeting, Chairman Prachanda has told that they have discussed about the issue concerning the cantonments bringing under the Special Committee.
Chairman Prachanda has expressed his concern about some of the members of the Special Committee stating the Nepal Army should not be kept under the monitoring of the Special Committee to the officiating Prime Minister and told him that such statements go against the recent agreement UCPN-Maoist has reached with the government. Chairman Prachanda has said that the Nepal Army falls within the purview of the Special Committee after the transfer of the duties of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) to the Special Committee.
At the same time, speaking at the program held to hold a training for the cadres of Nevah and Tamsaling States at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, Chairman Prachanda has told his party cadres to go to the people for building pressure on other political parties and the government for the timely completion of the peace process and the constitution drafting, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.
Following the decision of the Central Committee on launching a movement, UCPN-Maoist has held the training for its cadres but one of the Vice-chairmen, Dr Baburam Bhattarai has not accepted it and has his note of dissent on the document. In order to sort out the differences between the leadership of UCPN-Maoist and Vice-chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai, UCPN-Maoist has postponed the training program for some time.
