Commitment To Invest In Development Of Lumbini

August 12, 2011: at a press conference held in Kathmandu yesterday, Asia Pacific Exchange and Cooperation Foundation (APEC) has expressed its commitment to invest in the development of Lumbini: birthplace of Lord Buddha in Nepal, ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today writes. It also has disclosed the 15-year development plan and the first five-year construction plan at the press conference.

One of the representatives of APEC Tang has said that the development of Lumbini will play a significant role in the regional development of South Asia.

Planned land development, a new urban development, construction of an international airport, telephones and roads will be developed under the physical infrastructures development following the five-year construction plan.

The temple of Mayadevi will be rehabilitated without losing its originality, and will be developed as the center for the Buddhists of the world.

A university for the study of Buddhism will be set up. A hall of the international standard will be constructed for the discussion of all religions.

All these things will be done following the laws of Nepal, and all the plans of the APEC will be implemented only after the approval of the government of Nepal, ‘Gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
