By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On Thursday, April 03, 2008, addressing a program held by a social organization called Didibahini (Sisters), Women’s Rights Activist Saloni Singh said that all the political parties have given emphasis to the women's rights in their manifestoes but have ignored even the provision made in the Interim Constitution for fielding women candidates for the Constituent Assembly (CA) Election according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of April 04, 2008. She said that the political parties did not follow the provision made in the Interim Constitution for fielding at least 33 per cent women candidates for the CA election. Chairperson of ABC Nepal, Durga Ghimire has blamed the Election Commission for accepting the validity of the 16 political parties that have not fielded women candidates for the CA election. Similarly, once in another program, Minister for Social Welfare and Maoist Leader Pampha Bhusal has complained that the political parties have fielded women candidates for the CA election in the constituencies where they do not see their victory.
