Caretaker Prime Minister’s Interview

Issue 20, May 17, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On May 13, 2009, the State-run Radio Nepal in its morning program called ‘Antar Sambad’ aired the interview of caretaker Prime Minister Prachanda taken by its staffs. During the interview, the Prime Minster has told the interviewers that it does not matter who forms a new government but it matters whether they follow the suzerainty of people or the presidential unconstitutional action; the ongoing efforts on making a government under the leadership of the Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist and Leninist (CPN-UML) is unnatural; they have already started off buying and selling members of parliament to garner a majority for forming a government indulging in the most immoral act; his party’s stand is on the enforcement of the decision of the elected government, and suzerainty of people and his party will fight for democracy, republic, peace and constitution; he also has said that there is no alternative to the consensus politics, and the political parties need to reach a strong understanding based on the 12-point understanding they had reached in the past.
