January 19, 2013: opening the fifth district conference of the Kaski committee of the UCPN-Maoist in Pokhara today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that the Constituent Assembly elections scheduled for mid-May this year could be held if the parties reached a consensus within three days. Chairman Prachanda also informed that his party is holding talks with the NC in Kathmandu this evening.  “CPN-UML and Nepali Congress are obstructing the Constituent Assembly polls not UCPN-Maoist,” he said, and also charged the opposition parties with thwarting the bills on the CA elections from issuing the Presidential ordinances, according to ‘The Himalayan Times’ of today.

Speaking at the opening of the party's Central Library and Information Center at the party headquarters in Paris Danda this morning, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said, "Opposition parties are not ready for consensus. Instead, they are hell-bent on foiling the achievements obtained from the people's sacrifices and contributions. The country will not get an outlet until people discourage such practices," according to the RSS news posted on thehimalayantimes.com today.

The Federal Democratic Front-Nepal (FDF-N): the alliance of seven fringe parties including the Upendra Yadav-led Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal has reiterated the need for forming an election government with the participation of all the political parties, and also said that the major three parties such as UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, and CPN-UML should not be given the leadership of the government, as they have been holding the country hostage, the fresh election to a CA is the only way to free the country from them, according to THT ONLINE of today.
