Prime Minister’s China Visit
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
On December 27, 2009, speaking to the anchor of the ‘Antar Sambad’ morning program of the government-run Radio Nepal, former Nepalese Ambassador to China Mr. Rajeswore Acharya has said that the Nepalese Prime Minister should not visit any foreign country as a beggar asking for granting various sorts of development projects but should ask for mutually beneficial projects with some inputs of Nepal to such projects, then only we can maintain our prestige and self-esteem.
Prime Minister Madhav Nepal accompanied by his spouse, Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey and Energy Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat left Kathmandu for Lhasa on a regular flight of Air China on December 26, 2009. Presence of Finance Minister and Energy Minister in the Prime Minister’s entourage suggests that Nepal and China might sign some financial and energy projects in Beijing, China.
Some political critics have been saying that Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has been making so many foreign visits at a huge cost to the nation disregarding the most important tasks of completing the peace process and writing a new constitution at home. Mr. Nepal has stalled the peace process since he became a Prime Minister making provocative speeches through his Defense Minister on not integrating the Maoist combatants into the Nepal Army.
