On November 16, 2009, opening the World Entrepreneurship Week of 2009 in Kathmandu, Deputy Chairman of United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that he is not happy with the government for closing the self-employment project he has introduced and the sale of the Hetauda Textile Company he has initiated to revive as the Finance Minister of the Maoist-led government.
Dr. Bhattarai has introduced a self-employment project for the unemployed youths for creating self-employment providing them with the seed money of two hundred thousand rupees (About US$ 3,000) for running a small business. It is a government-sponsored micro credit to the youths. However, for unknown reasons, the current government wants to stop it.
Dr. Bhattarai has also initiated to resuscitate the Hetauda Textile Company for producing the fabrics required for the uniforms of police and army. It would save many jobs and save the taxpayers’ money from overspending on the uniforms of police and army men for commissions to the concerned minister and his staff.
Under his new especial security plan, the Home Minister is hiring sixteen thousand police. So, we can imagine how much taxpayers’ money he is going to spend on buying the uniforms at the price twice the market price for earning commissions from buying the uniforms.
