Speaking in Mother Tongue at CA Session

Issue 24, June 15, 2008

By KTM Reporter in Kathmandu

Some Constituent Assembly (CA) members spoke in their mother tongue at the third session on June 11, 2008. Probably, only a few CA members would understand some of the languages spoken in the CA session. So, the CA members speaking in their mother tongue met their ego but they did not achieve the goal of serving the interest of their constituents. If they have spoken in Nepali all of the CA members would understand the message they were trying to convey. It does not mean that they need not speak in their mother language but the choice they have is whether they want to achieve the goal of the interest of their constituents or meet their own ego. Surely, their constituents have not elected them for serving their own interest rather than the interest of the constituents. Better serve the interest of the constituents if they want to get reelected.
