USAID News
May 25, 2011: The Secretary of State's Office of Global Partnerships, in collaboration with USAID and the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), organized this year’s Global Diaspora Forum May 17-19 at the Department of State and USAID. The three-day forum provided members of Diaspora organizations a venue to discuss issues and exchange ideas.
At the event, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton launched the International Diaspora Engagement Alliance (IDEA) -- an innovative platform meant to support the development of Diaspora-centered public-private partnerships that promote trade and investment, volunteerism, philanthropy, diplomacy, entrepreneurship, and innovation in countries.
In addition, USAID and Western Union Co. announced they will launch a second African Diaspora Marketplace (ADM) in the fourth quarter of 2011. The ADM encourages sustainable economic growth and employment by supporting U.S.-based African Diaspora entrepreneurs.
