All Justices Attend A Conference Causing Delay In Hearings

July 8, 2013: all justices of the Supreme Court of Nepal including the chief justice attended the same conference yesterday causing delay in hearing on the cases, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
Two hundred and sixty two cases were set for hearings at the Supreme Court on Sunday, July 7, 2013 but all the justices including the chief justice attended the same conference. After the completion of the conference, some justices have held hearing on 55 cases.
Most of the lawyers, and the people involved in the cases have returned home disappointed. Some of them have come from out of the Kathmandu Valley. None knows how many of them have to suffer from the financial and economical losses due to the delay in hearings on the cases set for Sunday.
Justice delayed is justice denied. Thousands of cases have been pending at the different courts in Nepal. Justices and judges complain about not having sufficient number of justices and judges to deliver justices to the common folks.
