Drizzling Spoilt Some Amusements In Dasain

Issue 42, October 20, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

October 15, 2013: Drizzles started off on the ninth day of the Dasian festival, and have continued even on the eleventh day today, have spoilt the amusements of the kite flyers during the Dasain festival but the boozers and the card players have the day.

The sky of Kathmandu would have been full of kites during the Dasain festival but this year the perpetual drizzles have prevented the kite flyers from enjoying the kite flying. A man put the loss incurred by the sellers of kites and threads at Rs 200,000 this year but it might be much more.

However, boozers and card players have good time to enjoy during the rainy days, as nobody would disturb them or divert them from playing cards, when the rains precluded them from going out. The loss of kite sellers has been the gain of booze sellers. Rainy and cool days are the most favorable time for consuming unlimited amount of booze.

Uninterrupted rains have caused a great trouble to the people going to the senior relatives seeking blessing called ‘tika’ of the Dasain festival. The muddy roads and puddles have made the people even worse for walking as the public transport has been totally off the roads, and forced them to walk.
