President Of NC Koirala Rushed To Residence of Chairman Khanal

Issue 49, December 8, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 6, 2013: President of NC Sushil Koirala rushed to the Dallu residence of chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal yesterday, and they have had talks about forming a new government; Koirala has assured Khanal of starting to take an initiate for building a consensus on forming a new government, according to the news in the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Coincidently or otherwise, the ‘gorkhapatra’ published the interview of chairman Khanal yesterday. In the interview, Khanal has insisted on reelecting a new president and vice-president keeping aside the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 that has clearly stated that the president would be in the office until a new constitution would be promulgated.

According to the news, President Koirala has urged Chairman Khanal not to raise the issue of elections to a new president and vice-president. Koirala has said to Khanal that the first priority would be to form a new government then to think about a new constitution.

Thus, President of NC Koirala has been after a large fish rather than chasing after the snake. Koirala could continue as a prime minister at least for four years then as long as his president Dr Ram Baran Yadav extends the term of a new CA until it suits the NC. What a political turn Nepal has taken.
