Recent Decisions of Nepal Government

On November 05, 2008, spokesman for the Government of Nepal Krishna Bahadur Mahara told reporters that the Council of Ministers made several decisions such as the Government changed the names of three municipalities: Tribhuvan Municipality into Ghorahi Municipality, Mahendra Municipality into Bhim Dutta Municipality, and Prithvi Narayan Municipality into Gorkha Municipality; the government appointed several persons to the vacant positions of the members of the National Planning Commission, and to the management positions of the State-owned corporations; and created six new positions of DIG (Deputy Inspector General of police).

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal opposed the Government’s decision on changing the names of three municipalities stating it erases the history.

President of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Prachanda congratulated American President-elect Barack Obama on winning the presidency of the United States of America.
