What The Political Leaders Say In Nepal

January 20, 2012: Speaking at the program held for training the cadres of Nevah and Tamsaling states in Kathmandu yesterday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda has said that the top leaders of his party have agreed on going united to work for peace and constitution, and also claimed that the top leaders have acted sensibly for not splitting the party that the foreign foes have been trying to do, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes. He also has said that if the rights of the people were not ensured and the peace process were not completed then the people’s revolution would be the only alternative.
At the same event, Deputy Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidya Kiran has said that if the peace process and the constitution writing were not completed then the people would not have an alternative but go for a revolution.
Another Deputy Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that it would not be wise to quit the government, as did Prachanda and if the party recalled him he would be ready to return back to the party; he also has said that it would not be wise of some leaders taking the issues of the party to the streets.
At the event held to mark the fifth Anniversary of the Madheshi Movement yesterday, Chairman of the Terai Madhesh Democratic Party Mahant Thakur has said that the Terai-based political parties need to be integrated into the main political stream of the country.
At another event held At Lahan of the Siraha district yesterday to mark the fifth Anniversary of the Madheshi Movement, Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav has said that the Madheshi movement has not completed yet.
Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta has said that he would burn the constitution if it would make the provision for the North-South geographical regions for states.
Speaking at the cadre training event in the Rupendehi district yesterday, President of NC Sushil Koirala has said that the Maoists have been moving to grab the power and then impose the dictatorial rule; he also has said that his party would never accept the government’s decision on legalizing the actions of the people’s courts and governments set up by the Maoists during the conflict period, ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.
