Quitting Office For Not Allowing To Stop Irregularities In Teaching Hospital

March 4, 2013: Executive Director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital Dr Bhagwan Koirala has unexpectedly tendered his resignation on Friday, March 1, 2013. He has been successful to run the hospital in profit within three months of his appointment to the Executive Director of the hospital. It had been running at the loss of Rs 200 million a year. However, Dr. Koirala had to quit the office after he received the pressure from all concerned parties when he attempted on stopping corruption and irregularities that had infested the hospital so long, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.

Talking to the reporter of ‘gorkhapatra’, Dr. Koirala said, “on Friday, I registered my resignation, and I would quit the hospital within a few days.” Concerning the reasons for quitting the office of the Chief Executive of the hospital, he said, “there are number of reasons for quitting the office, I will compile all the reasons and then make them public,” according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.

Dr Koirala was a renowned cardiologist, and had worked at Shahid Gangala Hospital for eight years before joining the state-run teaching hospital at Maharajung.
