Dialogue Between Prachanda And Vaidhya

Issue 29, July 21, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporters

July 20, 2013: two Maoist commanders Prachanda and Mohan Vaidhya have held a preliminary dialogue yesterday and agreed to hold talks. Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya has said to his one-time disciple and current coordinator of the four-party political mechanism Prachanda that he would formed a new talk team together with the 33 dissident political parties to have a dialogue with the four major political parties concerning the elections to a new Constituent Assembly.

A few weeks ago, Chairman Vaidhya had formed a talk team entirely made up of his party members only disregarding other dissident political parties. Some of the political parties have openly come out against the unilateral decision of the CPN-Maoist on setting up a talk team.

Agreeing on talking to the four-party political mechanism without any conditions, Chairman Vaidhya has sidelined the hardliners such as Vice-chairman CP Gajurel, and one of general secretaries Dev Gurung that have been against talking to the four parties and the government under the current state of affairs in other words they want to dissolve the current government, and tear off the 11-point agreement the four major political parties have reached, and the 25-point ordinance issued by the president.

At the same time, the government has invited the dissident political parties including the CPN-Maoist to have a dialogue, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today. The concerned political parties have not responded to the letters written by the government.

At a meeting, Coordinator Prachanda has informed the members of the four-party political mechanism on the talks he has held with Chairman of CPN-Maoist Mohan Vaidhya, and Chairman of Madheshi People’s Rights Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav to bring them to a negotiating table, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today.
