Confidence In Completing A New Constitution

April 13, 2012: Speaking at a tea reception held by the CPN-UML at its headquarters in Balkhu for the media persons yesterday to mark the New Year, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said that the peace process has already moved ahead and it would not backtrack, nepalnews.com reports. “Environment of trust has been built among the political parties. So constitution will be promulgated on time and political transition would come to an end soon,” Khanal added.

At the meeting of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) held yesterday, Madheshi leaders have urged the large political parties now to concentrate on drafting a new constitution with the peace process now near to a conclusion, ‘The Himalayan Times’ of today writes. UDMF is an alliance of the Madhes-centric parties. They also have urged the NC and CPN-UML, and other parties in the opposition to ensure federalism with ethnic identity.

Opening the Salahesh festival at the Salahesh garden in Sisawani, Siraha on Friday, April 12, 2012, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has suggested all the political parties to unite for building an integrated Nepal, and said that the new constitution along with federalism would be promulgated if the political parties agreed to join hands for peace and constitution ‘The Himalayan Times’ of today writes. Chairman of Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Nembang has said that with the peace process gaining momentum, the political parties should now focus on constitution writing to promulgate a new constitution within May 27, 2012, ‘The Himalayan Times’ writes quoting ‘RASTRIYA SAMACHAR SAMITI’ on April 12, 2012. “The work related to army integration has been accomplished, thanks to the mutual understanding among the parties, a climate of trust has emerged, this opportunity must be utilized to finalize the constitution writing process,” The Himalayan Times quotes the Chairman.

Speaking at the press conference held in Baglung on Thursday, April 12, 2012, Minister for Education Dinanath Sharma has said that the UCPN-Maoist has completed the peace process and the drafting of a pro-people constitution follows after the New Year (April 13) according to the state-run news agency ‘RSS’.
