US salutes the progress of Nepalese people

A statement issued by the Nepalese Embassy in Washington DC, USA stated that the Nepalese Ambassador to the USA, Dr Suresh Raj Chalise presented his credentials to the US President George W Bush at the White House on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. On this occasion, US President George W Bush said, "The United States encourages the government and the Communist Party of Nepal - Maoist to work together to ensure that Constituent Assembly elections are held by mid-April." President Bush added, "Nepal has undergone profound changes, moving from a monarchy to an emerging democracy with an emerging economy."
