Mustang Youths Are To Stop Tourists From Upper Mustang

August 21, 2010: youths of the Upper Mustang have rolled up their sleeves to stop the tourists coming in as the Government of Nepal has failed in enforcing its decision on allocating 60% of the revenue generated by the tourists visiting the Upper Mustang to this district for its development; so the youths are going to stop the tourists from the coming October; the Local Development Officer has said that the government has been allocating 30% of the revenue to the Upper Mustang; First Vice-president of Trekking Agents’ Association of Nepal Bachhu Narayan Shrestha has said that the Upper Mustang tourism is one of the major attractions of Nepal Tourism Year to be celebrated in 2011 aiming to attract one million tourists; so, he has appealed to the government and the people of the Upper Mustang to settle the differences through dialogue as early as possible, ‘The Himalayan Times’ reports.
