Over 860 Human Rights Violations Cases In Midwest Of Nepal

December 11, 2013: Over 860 incidents of human rights violation were recorded in the mid-western region of Nepal in the past six months, according to the RSS news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
According to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), those cases are related to murder, death threat, torture, harassment, rape, looting, violence against women and children, capture of personal property and discrimination among others.
Speaking at an interaction event held on the human rights and security of human rights defenders by the NHRC Nepalgunj yesterday, the participants expressed concern over deepening political instability, increasing anarchy and impunity in the country.
They stressed the need for the collective efforts on protecting and promoting human rights. Chief Judge of Appellate Court Nepalgunj Keshab Prasad Mainali, NHRC regional director Murari Kharel, advocate Bishwajeet Tiwari, rights activist Bhola Mahat, journalist Neeraj Gautam, Senior Superintendent of Police Madhu Prasad Pudasaini, Assistant Chief District Officer Krishna Acharya expressed their views at the event.
