Identify Khil Raj Regmi As Chairman Only

March 19, 2013: hearing on the case filed by advocates including Advocate Chandrakant Gyawali against the ‘Removing Hurdles Ordinance’ and then appointing Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi as the Chairman of the Interim Election Council (IEC), a single bench of Girishchandra Lal of the Supreme Court of Nepal issued an interim order to the office of council of ministers, office of the president, and chairman of IEC yesterday stating to identify Khil Raj Regmi holding the office of chairman of IEC as the chairman only, his position as the Chief Justice has been inactivated.
Thus, chairman of IEC Regmi has no role to play in judiciary. This ruling must have satisfied the politicians and lawyers saying that a man holding both the office of the Chief Justice, and of the Chairman of IEC would be a dictatorial.
Now, chairman of IEC Regmi is only the chief of the executive only. He would not have a say in the business of the Supreme Court of Nepal, as his office of Chief Justice has been inactivated.
