Madhav’s Mantras To Stay On In Power
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 19, 2010: talking to the reporters after the function of the 98th birth anniversary of Dr. Dilli Raman Regmi held in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that the special session of the Parliament called by the UCPN-Maoist would invite further confrontation among the political parties; political consensus is the only way to conclude peace process, promulgate the new constitution and elect a new prime minister according to the state-run newspaper ‘The Rising Nepal’ of December 19, 2010.
Madhav Nepal knows very well that the consensus politics will surely not work in Nepal. Even his party colleagues have not been able to work on the consensus politics. Similarly, the NC and UCPN-Maoist leaders have not been able to work on the consensus politics. So, repeating the mantra of the political consensus on electing a new prime minister, completing the peace process, and writing a new constitution has been the political joke. So, Madhav Nepal is repeating it simply because he benefits from saying such jokes. At the same time he has been obstructing the consensus politics and the parliamentary session to stay on in the office of prime minister. This has been his standard practice. Madhav Nepal can trick the Nepalis once and twice at the maximum but not all the time.
