Corruption-convicted Former Minister Gupta Released

March 19, 2013: Founder chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik Jaya Prakash Gupta released yesterday after 13 months of serving jail term for corruption said that the fight for federalism would move ahead with a fresh movement, according to ‘Gorkhapatraonline.com’ news of today.

Speaking to his party cadres that came to welcome him at the jail in Kathmandu, Gupta said that he would launch a new movement for the transformation of the unitary state into federalism.

“The Madhesi Alliance was formed with the aim to fight for the rights of Madesi people from day one,” he said, adding that the same Alliance had signed on its death warrant after inking the 11-point agreement in the name of forming an election government while he was in prison, according to the ‘Gorkhapatraonline.com news of today.

“It was midnight when I entered prison. It is a good indication that a morning light has come to pass when I am getting out of the prison now,” said Gupta, stressing the need for a new movement for the transformation of the country.
