On Monday, December 01, 2008, the six political parties in the coalition government set up a political coordination committee to assist the government in smooth functioning. Each party has to nominate two members to the committee.

The 12-membered committee has Dev Gurung and Barsha Man Pun of the CPN-Maoist, former General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal and Surendra Pandey of CPN-UML, Upendra Yadav and Sarat Sing Bhandari of Madhesi People’s Rights Forum (MPRF), Laxman Lal Karna and Ramnaresh  Rai Yadav of Nepal Sadbhawana Party, Giriraj Mani Pokharel and Lila Mani Pokharel of Rastriya Janamorcha and Sunil Manandhar of CPN-United.

Previously, the major three parties such as CPN-Maoist, CPN-UML and MPRF wanted to have two representatives of each of their parties and one each of the minor parties on the committee. However, the minor parties insisted on having equal representation on the committee.
